Removing financial barriers so every talented student can participate
The Student Scholarship Program exists to ensure that financial circumstances never prevent a talented, passionate student from participating fully in Heritage High School's theatre program. We believe that every student who wants to be part of our theatre community deserves that opportunity, regardless of their family's economic situation.
Through direct financial assistance, we remove barriers that might otherwise keep students from enrolling in theatre classes, purchasing required materials, attending competitions and festivals, or participating in special performance opportunities. This program embodies our core belief that diversity of experience, background, and perspective makes our theatre community stronger and enriches the learning environment for all students.
This program supports students facing economic hardships that would otherwise limit or prevent their participation in theatre activities. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and a genuine commitment to the performing arts.

📚Continuing students whose families are experiencing temporary financial difficulty or unexpected hardship
🌟Talented performers who have earned special opportunities (competitions, festivals, advanced workshops) but cannot afford participation fees
🎓College-bound seniors who need financial support for audition travel, application fees, or portfolio development
All applications are reviewed with sensitivity and respect. Students from any economic background are encouraged to apply if they have financial need—we believe in meeting students where they are and helping them access the opportunities they deserve.
Confidentiality Guaranteed
All scholarship applications are handled with complete confidentiality. Only a small scholarship committee reviews applications—teachers, directors, and fellow students are never informed of who receives assistance.
Students or parents complete a simple, confidential application form available online or through the theatre office. The form asks about specific financial needs (class fees, materials, competition costs) and the student's commitment to theatre.
A dedicated scholarship committee reviews applications on a rolling basis, evaluating financial need and ensuring available funds are distributed equitably. Most applications receive a response within one week.
Approved scholarships are paid directly to the school or vendor—funds cover class registration fees, materials purchases, competition entry fees, travel costs for special events, and other program-related expenses.
Students can apply for scholarship assistance at any time during the school year. If circumstances change or new opportunities arise, families can submit additional requests for consideration.
The Student Scholarship Program has touched countless lives since its inception, enabling over 150 students to participate fully in Heritage High School's theatre program when they otherwise couldn't have afforded to do so. The impact extends far beyond removing financial barriers—scholarship recipients report increased self-confidence, improved academic performance, stronger sense of belonging, and clearer career aspirations as direct results of their theatre participation. Success stories include a student who received scholarship support for three years, developed into a talented technical designer, and recently earned a full scholarship to a prestigious university theatre program; another student whose family experienced sudden financial hardship mid-year received emergency assistance that allowed them to continue in the program and ultimately land the lead role in the spring musical, an experience they describe as life-changing.
Application criteria are intentionally broad and focused on demonstrated financial need rather than bureaucratic requirements—we understand that every family's situation is unique, and we trust parents and students to honestly communicate their needs. The scholarship committee, composed of Boosters board members and community volunteers (never teachers or students), reviews applications with empathy and understanding, recognizing that asking for help can be difficult. Last year alone, we distributed over $45,000 in scholarship assistance, allowing 38 students to participate who might otherwise have been excluded due to cost. As our program grows and develops new opportunities—from advanced workshops to competition travel—the need for scholarship funding grows correspondingly. We're committed to ensuring that every single student who wants to be part of our theatre family has that opportunity, and we believe the diversity of experiences and perspectives that scholarship recipients bring makes our entire program richer, stronger, and more authentic.
